A ticketed, multi-week artisan Christmas market held inside the medieval rooms and courtyards of Haddon Hall near Bakewell, with makers changing each week.

Mercatum is Haddon Hall's Christmas artisan market, spread through the decorated rooms, galleries and courtyard of the medieval house and out into the grounds. For 2026 the hall says more than 750 artisans and makers will take part over six weeks, with a different line-up each week - ceramics, art, chocolates, jewellery, candles, stationery, perfume and more.

The house is dressed for Christmas with lights and trees, and there is street food, hot chocolate, mulled wine and live music. It opens Wednesday to Sunday only.

Entry is by pre-booked timed ticket (morning, afternoon or twilight); the hall and car park are cleared between sessions. Cheaper 'Green Travel' tickets are for visitors arriving by bus, bike or on foot - there is a bus stop right outside, on routes from Matlock and Bakewell. Some parking and stalls are on grass and can get muddy, and dogs other than assistance dogs are not allowed.
