A one-day Victorian-style Christmas festival filling Beverley's market squares with more than 120 stalls, a Santa parade and reindeer.
Beverley Festival of Christmas is a single-day event that takes over the historic market town's centre, with three Victorian-style Christmas markets spread across Saturday Market, Wednesday Market and North Bar. More than 120 stallholders, most of them local, sell handmade gifts, decorations, homeware, jewellery and artisan food and drink.
The day starts at 10am with a parade from Wednesday Market to Saturday Market led by Santa and his reindeer, with live music and costumed performers; the reindeer then stay in a pen in Saturday Market until mid-afternoon. There are also traditional fairground rides, birds of prey, ice sculptures, brass bands, carol singers and short carol services during the day.
The festival was started in 1995 by local shopkeeper John Bird, and 2026 is its 30th year. It gets very busy: organisers recommend coming by train or bus, and run a free park and ride from Beverley Racecourse (first bus 9am, last bus back 5pm). There are road closures in the town on the day.
