A weekend Christmas market in Knaresborough's historic Market Place, ending with fireworks over the town's famous railway viaduct.

Knaresborough, the market town above the Nidd Gorge near Harrogate, holds its Christmas market on the first weekend of December. Stalls fill the Market Place and nearby lanes and cobbled courtyards, selling seasonal goods, gifts and locally sourced produce, with hot food, mulled wine, roast chestnuts and live entertainment. Other festive events run around the town and the independent shops are open.

On the Sunday the weekend ends with a short firework display over the railway viaduct at 4.30pm, best seen from the castle grounds or the riverside.

Parking near the Market Place is very limited because of road closures, so the organisers run a free park and ride all weekend from the GSPK car park on Manse Lane (HG5 8LF), with accessible buses from 8am to 5.30pm.
