Tewkesbury's biggest one-day event: a Sunday Christmas street market with fairground rides, a local-talent stage and the town's Christmas lights switch-on.

On a Sunday afternoon in late November, Tewkesbury closes its three main streets (High Street, Barton Street and Church Street) to traffic for a Christmas market of more than 70 stalls selling gifts, handmade crafts and street food.

There are children's fairground rides, Father Christmas, and a stage of local musicians and dancers. The finale comes at 5pm, when the cast of the Roses Theatre pantomime switches on the town's Christmas lights at The Cross.

Several council car parks nearby are free on the day (Spring Gardens, Oldbury Road, Station Road, The Vineyards and Rails Meadow, but not the Abbey/Gander Lane car park). The town is about five minutes from junction 9 of the M5.
